boxes in the basement

Who is in charge of basement boxes? Just took a peak at lbna for the first time in a few years. Sad state of affairs. Better that things are offline.

I think they're all up for adoption. I need to go reclaim/archive some of my old ones. Somehow they've made it on that list. :/

Actually all archived boxes go there. Looks like the option is delete them or make them active again. :(

Choi is the webmaster for LBNA and he has done a great job with it, adding many new features over the last few years.  Not sure why you think it is a "sad state of affairs", but I still like it best.

I kind of like the basement, because all the good old stuff is there. Things get marked not found once and people tend to archive them. Makes for some interesting finds.
Mine are all archived, because I can't get up to Maine to verify them, butpeople still report finding them from time to time...

Hi! I'm the webmaster for LbNA. Yes, it can be a little sad when boxes are retired or go missing. There are thousands of such clues on both LbNA and AQ. Thankfully, there are many active clues as well! Depending on your area, you may find more active clues on AQ than LbNA (of course, many are on both sites).

Happy Hunting!

I am in possession of one of the missing boxes.  I removed it from the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Garden in Portland, Maine, before construction was started on a library expansion.  I have been wondering what to do with it ever since.

One of the other gardeners and I noticed a woman poking around in a secluded corner of the garden and started a conversation with her.  She told us about letter boxing and I joined the email list.  Unfortunately, I became so busy that I could not keep up with the constant stream of messages.  And still am.

If you tell me where to send the box and contents (which I dried out because they were damp), I will be happy to do so.  If you will guide me how to relocate the box, I will do that also.  The pocket garden has been replaced by a lot of glass and brick, but I'm sure there is some nook left unnoticed.
This was almost a secret garden where people from the local offices came to enjoy a quiet lunch.  I was sorry to see it go.

The only plant left from Henry's original garden is a lilac that he and his Aunt planted. Henry was born in 1807, so possibly he was about ten years old when the bush (now about twelve feet tall, it should be pruned to "sniff height"). The Longfellow Garden Club paid to have it removed and "baby sat" until the construction was completed and it could be re-established.   I know how to properly prune it but the Club pays somebody else (who really doesn't know anything about lilacs) to hack away at it.  Oh, well.

Please give me some direction on this matter.   I never knew who to contact before I spotted your message.

I am replying to Marie's post about a box from the basement that she invited anyone of us to get in touch with her. Since I happen to summer near where she lives, I called her. We made a meeting date in order to move the box along from it's foster parent to a possible future adopter to eventually to be planted again. Thank you Marie for your kindness!

Awesome!  Glad to see this Yahoo Group is still useful for acts of kindness.
